THE LUTHERAN PIONEER.
A Brief Guide in the Christian Doctrine for Adult
Catechumens. By F. F. Selle. Northwestern Pub-
lishing House, Milwaukee, Wis. 31 pages. Price,
10 cts.; dozen, $1.20, postage extra. Order from
Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo.
We have here in concise form a comprehensive presen-
tation of the fundamental doctrines of Christianity. It is
especially intended for use in adult classes preparing for
confirmation. The booklet has seen numerous editions and
richly deserves the wide use it has enjoyed. The present
edition has been thoroughly revised by the author and
Pastor Oscar Kaiser. Pastors will find the Brief Guide
an excellent guide in working out a series of sermons on
the Small Catechism in this its quadricentennial year.
Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of St. Michael’s Ev.
Luth. Church, Tarrington (Hochkirch), Vic-
toria. 1853—1929.
We greatly enjoyed reading this richly illustrated and
well-written story of a sister congregation in far-off Aus-
tralia. One cannot but feel gratified to learn that our
brethren in the antipodes have such congregations, con-
gregations palpitating with spiritual life and eager to be
up and doing all they can to make known the name of
the Lord.
Word Pictures of Bible Events. Nos. IV and V. By
Wm. Moenkemoeller. 197 pages. Price, 70 cts.; cloth-
bound, $1.25.
Guide Lines for Study in Connection with Word Pic-
_tures of Bible Events. Nos. IV and V. 16 pages.
Price, 10 cts.
Topical Index to Word Pictures of Bible Events, Nos.
I—V. 24 pages. Price, 25 cts. Order from Con-
cordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo.
_* Those who have read the first three numbers of Prof.
Moenkemoeller’s Word Pictures will be delighted to hear
that a double number, covering First and Second Samuel,
First Chronicles, and Psalms, has just appeared on the
market. This latest number of this series of studies is
just as meaty as were the previous numbers. Pastors and
teachers will find these Word Pictures wonderfully stimu-
lating and informative. The Guide Lines for Study are
very valuable in the systematic study of the chapters of
Scripture under consideration. The Jopical Indeza, alpha-
betically arranged, for all the numbers that have so far
been published, is a most happy thought and will be use-
ful to the users of the Word Pictures in many ways.
