THE LUTHERAN PIONEER. 191

“They shall hear My voice.’ Jesus calls, “Come
unto Me,” and they hear Him and follow Him;
they return to the Shepherd and Bishop of their
souls, from whom they have been separated by
Satan and sin.

Are you, my reader, a blessed member of the
Good Shepherd’s flock? Are you happily singing:
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He
maketh me to lie down in green pastures and
leadeth me beside the still waters; He restoreth
my soul”?

If you are, you will also hear the voice of Jesus:
“Go and make disciples of all nations.” The other
sheep must be brought, and you are to be an instru-
ment in your Good Shepherd’s hand to bring them.
Tell them that Jesus died for them. Tell them that
Jesus receives sinners. Let them hear the voice of
the Good Shepherd: “Him that cometh to Me
I will in no wise cast out.” “I am come that they
might have life.” ‘And they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.”

Are you helping to bring the other sheep into
the fold? What are you doing to enable the other
sheep to hear the voice of their Good Shepherd?

“Tr you want to-win a man for the kingdom of
God, do not spend much time talking about the
weather or about business or about politics. A few
words -of this sort may be necessary for the purpose
of approach. But when once you have his ear,
make straight for the heart to see whether there is
not.an approach by which you can bring Jesu
Christ to him.” :

BOOK TABLE.

Elementary Bible History. Following the Words of Holy
Scripture. With colored illustrations, maps, notes,
Scripture- and Catechism-passages. Concordia Pub-
lishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price, $1.00.

Here is a Bible History that will delight our children
and be a source of joy to teachers and parents. The col-
ored illustrations are true works of art and are the pro-
ductions of men who caught the very spirit of the stories
they were to illustrate. The compilers of the book, Super-
intendents Stellhorn and Kuehnert, know what the child
wants and needs and in this book have tried to furnish it.
We would call the compilers true pedagogs by the grace
of God. May they address themselves to many a similar
task with equally happy results! ‘Though some may be
of the opinion that the price is somewhat high, we wish
to assure all teachers and parents that when once they
get the book in hand, they will no longer think so.

Das Fundament des christlichen Glaubens. By F. Pie-
per, D. D. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis,
Mo. 48 pages. Price, 20 cts.

We are of the opinion that the publishers did a very
proper thing when they reprinted this series of valuable
articles which had appeared in Lehre und Wehre some
months ago. In this series the venerable Doctor, in his
lucid and convincing way, shows the attitude of the Uni-
tarians, the Romanists, the Reformed Churches, the secret
societies, and others to the foundation of our Christian
faith. The pamphlet deserves reading and rereading.

Proceedings of the Ninth Convention of the Alabama
Luther Conference. Order from Rev. E. A. West-,
cott, Selma, Ala. Price, 10 cts.

It is our opinion that this pamphlet of twenty-four
pages will be of interest to many of our readers. Essays
on “Good Works,” “Absolution Spoken by the Pastor,”
“Getting Children to, Attend School Regularly,” “Night
Schools for Adults,” and “Increasing Sunday-school Col-
lections” are in the booklet, also the closing address de-
livered by Superintendent G.A.Schmidt. The conference
was held in the chapel at Kings Landing, which was built
by the Alabama colored Lutherans and presented to the
Mission Board as a token of gratitude for all the blessings
that have come to the colored people of the Black Belt
through our Church.

Lutheran Annual 1926.—Amerikanischer Kalender fuer
deutsche Lutheraner auf das Jahr 1926. Concordia
Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price of each,
15 cts.

Publications as well known as these need only be an- _
nounced to assure their sale. All our members are await-
ing their appearance at this time of the year. Each an-
nual has a beautiful story besides shorter articles.

Mehr. Acht auf die Kinder.— More Attention to the
Children. By A. C. Stellhorn. Concordia Publish-
ing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price: Single copies,
4 cts.; dozen, 30 cts.

' We wish we could write the words and thoughts of
this tract into the hearts of every father and mother in
our Church! Could we do it, there soon would be no
congregation in our Church without a Christian day-school,
and there would be far more Christian training in our
homes. “One thing is needful,” said Jesus to Martha, and
that remains true to-this day. What is all wealth, all .
secular learning, what are all earthly honors, if the heart
does not rest in Jesus!

Das Zeichen des Jungfrauensohnes. Zwei Weihnachts- -
predigten von Johannes Huchthausen. Published by
Johannes Herrmann, Zwickau, Saxony. - Price, 12 cts.

The two sernions are based on Is. 7. The style is popu-
lar in the best sense of the word. The contents of the
two addresses are Biblical. The applications are timely.

Evolution? ‘The Answers of Eminent Scientists. Gath-
ered during thirty years by William Dallmann.
Fourth edition. Northwestern Publishing House,
Milwaukee, Wis. Price: Single copies, 15 cts.; dozen,
$1.44; 100, $10.00. °

If any of our readers are laboring under the delusion
that all the great scientists are evolutionists, let them
