THE LUTHERAN PIONEER.
147
Mission Board was authorized to engage such addi-
tional help to assist him as the work requires.
9. The Board for Colored Missions was em-
powered to draw up new regulations to cover the
work and duties of the Field Secretary, since the
old regulations no longer meet the requirements.
These new regulations are to be submitted to the
delegates before the next convention of. the Synod-
ical Conference.
10. The important matter of a constitution and
an organization of a conference of the workers and
lay delegates in our Colsred Missions was given into
the hands of a committee to be selected by the Presi-
dent of the Synodal Conference, Dr. L. Fuerbringer,
of which he is to be the chairman. This committee
is to work in cooperation with the Board for Colored
Missions and report back to the next meeting of
the Conference.
11. The Conference resolved to urge all pastors to
make an earnest appeal to their members to become
subscribers for, and readers of, the Missionslaube
and the Lurmeran PionrEkEr, the two periodicals
published in the interest of Colored Missions, as well
as to urge them to purchase copies of Light in the
Black Belt and Half a Century of Lutheranism
among the Colored People. Pastors likewise should
use the three stereopticon lectures on Colored
Missions.
12. The Mission Board was instructed to select
a committee of capable men to do all the preliminary
work preparatory to an exploration in Africa, which
the Synodical Conference was encouraged to make
by the several synods constituting the body in view
of the opening of a mission in Africa, pursuant to
the wish especially expressed by our colored congre-
gations, which have gathered about $6,000 for the
making of such a survey. Said committee is to
submit its findings to the Board for Colored Mis-
sions and report at the next meeting of the Synod-
ical Conference. This committee is also to carry
out the extended exploration in Africa, pending the
approval and decision of the Synodical Conference.
13. With the consent of the Board of Directors
of the Missouri Synod the auditor of that body shall
be employed to audit the books. of the treasurer of
the Board for Colored Missions.
14. The Synodical Conference approved the
schedule of maturities of the notes of the Colored
Missions Building Fund as printed in note No. 9 of
the treasurer’s report and sanctioned the overdrawals
amounting to $2,555.72.
