The composer of these four somewhat difficult choruses
is Ros Vors. Besides the chorus parts, the first number
has solos for alto and soprano; the second, a duet for
soprano and bass; the third, solos for soprano, alto or
baritone, and tenor; the fourth brings a soprano solo.
The Concordia Organist. Compiled by J. H. F. Hoelter.
Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Bound
in cloth. Price, $2.00.
The organists of our churches will thank Mr. Hoelter
for this volume of one hundred hymn preludes. Mr. Hoel-
ter contributed sixteen of the compositions himself, while
the others are by masters like Kaeppel, Haase, Schu-
macher, Wismar, and Faerber. The writer had the pleas-
ure of hearing the compiler render some of the composi-
tions he has contributed to this book, at a recent synodical
convention in San Francisco, and the recollection of the
sweet strains of harmony will long remain a pleasant
memory.
Hospice Directory, 1928. Removal Notices. Hos-
pice Department, Walther League, 6438 Eggleston
Ave., Chicago, Il.
A real pastor will not feel that his responsibility ends
towards those who once were of his flock until he has ex-
ercised due care in getting his former sheep properly and
safely placed in another fold. To this end he will not
only direct his parishioners when they remove to another
city to the pastor and church of that city, but he will also
inform the pastor of the city to which his parishioner has
removed of the removal. If he has a Walther League so-
ciety, he will enlist its services in behalf of the member
that has removed elsewhere. This Hospice Directory will
render good services in these cases of removals. Single
copies are gratis; larger orders are filled at $5.00 the
hundred. The booklets of removal notices, to be had at
the price of ten cents a booklet of ten notices, will Prove
a great convenience in this connection. F. J. L.

One of our Lutheran pastors reported the following
incident to the management of KFUO: “Recently a man
attended one of my services; he remained after the ser-
vice, came up to me, made himself acquainted with me,
and said: ‘You may be surprised to see me here and won-
der what induced me to come. There is just one thing
which moved me to attend your service, and that one
thing is Station KFUO in St. Louis. Those men can
reach more Gospel in fifteen minutes than some preachers
lo in two or three hours.’ The man was apparently sin-
cere, and I expect to see him at my services frequently
and hope to gain him as a member of our ees 2
