To Change Time of Induction
and Appointments
RESOLUTION 5-12A
Overtures 5-68—69 (CW, p. 262)
Rationale:
For some time it has become apparent that too much
time passes between election of officers and boards by the
national convention and their installation on the last Sun-
day in September. In the interim, newly elected members
are not able to act since they have not yet assumed office
and members leaving office are expected not to take actions
that would bind others who will shortly replace them. It
is desirable that the time between election to office and
the assumption of it be reduced.
Resolved, That Bylaw 3.65 a be amended as follows:
PRESENT/PROPOSED WORDING
Board-of Directors: a. All 1 those elected at at convention
and present shall be inducted into office at the con-
vention. Those not present or those appointed by the
President or Board of Directors shall be inducted into
office at the determination of the synodical President,
and be it further
Resolved, That Bylaw 3.59 b be amended as follows: |
PRESENT/PROPOSED WORDING
b. The President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary, {Vice-
President—Finance] Treasurer, and members of all
elected boards shall assume office on the fourth Sun-
day-of September September 1 following their elec-
tion. The members of all appointed boards and
commissions shall begin their service on dart Sept.
1 following each convention. Incumbents shall serve
until their successors have been quelified appointed;
and be it finally
Resolved, That these changes take effect with the 1992
convention.
Action: Adopted (12).

form are the following:
