2.805 - Retirement Policies. Again two options: Resolution 2-18B and Resolution 4-20A. The
Commission decided in favor of the second option.
2.941
Nominations. In view of the new procedures adopted and the responsibilities placed upon the
Secretary, it was decided to add: "d. The Secretary of the Synod shall handle the preliminary
work."
2.947a Nominations. Since the Secretary has this responsibility, it was decided that he should call the
initial meeting rather than the President.
3.97
District Functions. It was decided to add "Adjudication" to this list.
3.121
District Nominating Committee. In view of the action of the convention it was resolved to
add this bylaw:
3.12 Nominating Committees
The Nominating Committee of each District shall be elected by the District convention.
For the sake of logic and clarity it was also decided that this paragraph should be followed by
the paragraphs Majority Vote, Term and Tenure, Election of President and Vice President,
Holding More Than One Office, Prohibition of Conflict of Interest.
4.11
Circuit Counselor. In view of Resolution 2-18B and Resolution 5-15, the paragraph was
changed to read: "Every voting congregation of each Circuit shall nominate as candidates for
the office of Circuit Counselor two men from among the pastors of member congregations of
the Circuit or from among the emeriti who hold membership in one of the member
congregations of that Circuit. The nominations shall be made . . .”
4.51
Convocations. Since Resolution 2-13 no longer made Circuit convocations optional as
recommended, it was decided that the first words of the paragraph should read: "Circuits shall
arrange for a Circuit convocation . . .”
6.01
Boards of Regents. On the basis of Resolution 5-04 it was decided to add the paragraph: "d.
The election of the Board of Regents of the seminary in Argentina shall be vested in the
Argentine District."
8.55
Disqualification. For the sake of clarification and on the basis of repeated rulings in the past,
the Commission decided to change the final words to read: "shall designate replacement(s)
from the Commission on Adjudication of another District."
10.03g Since the Board of Doctrinal Review does not review but functions only in policy and appeals
matters, it was decided for clarification to remove the words at the end of the paragraph "by
this board."
11.05 - Commission on Church Literature. For basic reasons the CCM decided that the heading of
this paragraph should be changed from "Advisory and Consultative Members" to "Advisers
and Consultants." Similarly in paragraph "a" the final word should read: "as an adviser." The
words in paragraph "b" were changed to read: "and shall act as advisers in the matters
submitted to them."
