132 RESOLUTIONS

Resolved, That the Department of Stewardship articu-

late the biblical principles of financial stewardship (Bylaw _

9.01) which should guide all of our stewardship and appeal
efforts, and disseminate these to all synodical entities,
agencies, and auxiliaries prior to the 1 1998 convention; and
be it further

. Resolved, That the convention instruct the Synod’s enti-
ties, agencies, and auxiliaries to approach any solicitation
on the basis of these biblical principles of financial stew-
ardship, instead of a worldly, legalistic approach; and be it
finally

Resolved, That the duties previously assigned to the Coun-
cil on Stewardship in Bylaw 3.933 be assigned to the De-
partment of Stewardship. .

Action: Adopted as amended (12):

(The resolution was amended by the committee, deleting
recognized service organizations in the first and second resolve
and by common consent with the addition of the word financial
before stewardship in both resolves.)

that certain overtures should be declined; therefore be it

Resolved, That the following overture be respectfully de-
clined for the reasons given:
