82, Chairman Kuenne next reported that Mr, Ted Drewes had explained
in some detail that it would be impossible for him to attend this meeting of
the Committee and that presumably his new business connection would prevent
him from attending also other meetings of the Committee; if the meetings of
the Committee would be scheduled on a Saturday and Sunday the picture would
change. The Secretary noted that he also had received a long distance call
during which Mr. Drewes explained the predicament that faced him.
83. Some thought was given to the possibility of arranging the meetings
of the Committee for a Saturday and Sunday in order to retain the services of
Mr. Drewes who had demonstrated exceptional ability during the short time
he had served on the Committee. However, after considering the advantages
and disadvantages of Saturday-Sunday meetings, the Committee came to the
decision that this would be impractical, Under the circumstances it became
necessary to accept with deep regret the resignation of Mr. Drewes.

President of the Synod might well be a lawyer.
