82 MORNING DEVOTIONS

celebrate,

And Christ came to do just that. True God and true
man He was, and God through Him was the judging,
redeeming, justifying God. That’s the kind of God we
have. We need to see it and feel it and Say it to one-

And so we can sing a new song this day, because in
Christ we are a new creation. We join Paul in saying

just begun to live!” Here is a young lady, slipping that
ring over the third finger, left hand, and shouting, “T’ve
just begun to live!” Pay] always felt that way. Every-
thing else Was garbage. Education, security, social
Standing — no, that’s not living at all. So it’s been with
all the giants. It was so with St. Augustine in the quiet

hatreds and, following the example of our Lord, shout,
“Thy sings be forgiven thee”: “Rise up and walk.”

And this new Song is the real test of the church, for
it is the mark of the Spirit of God. The fruit of the
Spirit, we know, is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, fidelity and self-control], That’s the song we
sing.

So let’s sing a new song — a song of Jesus and His
love. Away with the minor key! Let’s not spend our

time just clearing our throats, but rather — let's have an
explosion of great song.

When all thy mercies, O my God,
My rising soy] surveys,
Transported with the view I'm lost
In wonder, love, and Praise,

that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself,
no longer holding men’s misdeeds against them, and that He
as entrusted us with the message of reconciliation, (2 Corin-
thians 5:18-19 NEB)
Our new Song is really an old song. We sing it many

times: T love to tell the story

Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory,
Of Jesus and His love,

T love to tel] the story,
Because I know ‘tis true;
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else can do,

I love to tel] the story,
"Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old, story
Of Jesus and His love.

It is an old, old Song, certainly, in Point of plan.
Back of Bethlehem with its cradle and song, back of

And by God's Brace we know well this old song and

know it better than life itself. There js no doubt about
