Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917

A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses, and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation below is a link to that page.

The alphabetical run is here in full, Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913 treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here under its own heading.

Headwords are spelled as Eckhardt set them, so the filter folds the differences that would otherwise hide them — Sklaverei finds Sclaverei, Konkordienformel finds Concordienformel. What you see listed is always the printed spelling.

unſere Anſtalten ſind. Was die Synode tut, tun wir. Anm. f. Woher kommt es, daß manchmal Gemeinden nichts für die Anſtalten tun wollen? Sie müß'er ſelbſt Kirchen und Schulen aufführen. — Aber was he.n uns Kirchen und Schulen, wenn keine Prediger * ind? Anm. g. Wenn eine Gemeinde einmal gerade kein Geld hat, kann ſie auch Geld borgen, damit die nötigen Bauten nicht ſo lange auf ſich warten laſſen müſſen. Anm. h. Auch mit Nahrungsmitteln können die Anſtalten verſorgt werden. 2 Kön. 4, 42; h. daß wir fleißig für unſere Anſtalten beten. „Segne die rechtgläubigen Lehranſtalten.“ Mit unſrer Macht iſt nichts getan. — Anm. a. Schließen wir auch die Profeſſoren in un⸗ ſere Fürbitte ein. Selbſt wenn ein Eliſa Doktor der Theologie iſt, macht ſich in den Prophetenſchulen mantz⸗ mal der Unverſtand breit; i. daß wir unſere Anſtalten hochſchätzen. Wie rühmt und preiſt die Welt ihre Hochſchulen.

9. Unſere Anſtalten ſind von großſem Segen a. für die Studenten. Welche Kenntniſſe eig⸗ nen ſie ſich an! Ihr Herz wird feſt in Gottes Wort. Sie werden bibelgläubige Kandidaten. Anm. Studenten ſollen aber auch 1. die Zeit nicht mit unnützen Beſchäftigungen totſchlage 1, ſondern auskaufen. Wenn ein Kau mann Gelegenheit hat, ſeine Ware billig einzukau⸗ fen, ſo benutzt er ſie und verſäumt lieber eine Mahl⸗ zeit; 2. fleißig beten. Das iſt über die Hälfte ſtu⸗ iert; ö 3. kein ſchlechtes Beiſpiel geben, z. B. in den do rien; b. für die Kirche. Unſere Anſtalten haben zum Erfolg unſerer Synode viel beigetragen. Viele hun⸗ derte von treuen Predigern ſind daraus hervorgegangen. Der Zweck, den die Synode im Auge hatte, iſt erreicht: c. für den Staat. Unſere Paſſtoren halten die Chriſten an, dem Staate gehorſam zu ſein. Wenn es auf unſere Gemeinden ankäme, bedürfte der Staat nicht vieler Geſetze und Beamten. Anm. Manche von denen, die unſere Anſtalten be⸗ ſucht haben, wirken jetzt als Kaufleute, Arzte u. ſ. w.
