Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917
A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri
Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at
St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses,
and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by
volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's
own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation
below is a link to that page.
The alphabetical run is here in full,
Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two
archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a
gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the
Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913
treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here
under its own heading.
Headwords are spelled as Eckhardt set
them, so the filter folds the differences that would otherwise hide them —
Sklaverei finds Sclaverei, Konkordienformel finds
Concordienformel. What you see listed is always the printed spelling.

Die Schule (1913)
Kindergarten.
a. Der Vater der Kinderbewahranſtalt iſt F. Frödel. In der Mechaniſierung und Methodiſierung hat er nicht das Richtige getroffen. 9, 8. 9.
b. Der Kindergarten ſoll keine Schule ſein, ſondern eine Erziehungsanſtalt. Aber wie leicht wird eine Schule daraus, und ſelbſt die Freude am Spiel iſt dann vorbei!
c. Der Kindergarten hat auch manche Nachteile. Die Kinder gewöhnen ſich an den vielen Wechſel im Unterricht. Alles bloß eine kleine Zeit und nichts ordentlitz kann das Kind bald verderben.
Anm. a. Vor dem 6. Jahre ſollte das Kind nicht aus dem Elternhaus entlaſſen werden. Die Mutter ſoll die erſte Erzieherin ſein. Die Kinder gedeihen nirgendbeſſer, als unter den Augen der Mutter. Lind. 33.
Anm. b. Wo örtliche Verhältniſſe es nötig machen, mag eine Gemeinde einen Kindergarten einrichten.
Anm. c. Die Kindergärten der Staatsſchulen können wir nicht empfehlen, da man hier eine Erziehung ohne Gottes Wort bietet.
