Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917

A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses, and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation below is a link to that page.

The alphabetical run is here in full, Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913 treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here under its own heading.

11. Urſache der Wahl, causa impulsiva, iſt a. Gottes Gnade. 2 Tim. 1, 9: berufen nach ſeinen Vorſatz und Gnade. Eph. 1, 5: nach dem Wohlgefallen ſeines Willens, Lied 240, 2; b. Chriſti Verdienſt erwählt durch Chriſtum. ſ. S Es iſt keine Urſache in uns, die Gott hätte beſtimm. können, uns zu erwählen. Das bezeugt a. die Schrift. 1 Kor. 4, 7. Rom. 9, 15. 16. Röm. 11, 5: Wahl der Gnaden. Gnade gehört den Unwerten. Wäre eine Bewegurſache in uns, dann wäre es keine Gnade. Eph. 1, 6: zu Lob ſeiner herrlichen Gnade. Da mit iſt alles Verdienſt ausgeſchloſſen. Röm. 9, 11. 12: ehe die Kinder geboren warer und weder Gutes noch Böſes getan hatten. Konk. 723, § 88. Joh. 15, 16. 19. Ihr habt mich nicht erwählt; b. das Bekenntnis. 557, § 20. 21. 723, § 88. aliquid in nobis, irgend etwas in uns. Anm. a. Dieſe vier Punkte, 557, § 17—20, ſind erſt 1577 der Konkordienformel einverleibt, um allen Synergiſten den Weg zu verlegen. Anm. b. Gott ſieht die Sache und nicht die Perſon an. Anm. c. Das loben ſelbſt Calviniſten an der Konkor dia, daß ſie nichts am Menſchen läßt. Einwand. Die Konkordia rede hier bloß von dem was der Menſch aus natürlichen Kräften tun könne. — Aber auch nicht etwas Gutes, das Gott ſelbſt in uns ge⸗ ſchaffen hat. kann Bewegurſache der Wahl ſein. Anm. e. Sonſt wird bei Wahlen Rückſicht genommen auf Fähigkeit u. ſ. w. Ap. 6, 5: Stephanus. Hier aber gilt 1 Kor. 1, 28: Das Unedle von der Welt u. w. (Vergl. Die Wahl des Hirtenknaben Davids zum Könige.)
