Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917

A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses, and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation below is a link to that page.

The alphabetical run is here in full, Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913 treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here under its own heading.

Headwords are spelled as Eckhardt set them, so the filter folds the differences that would otherwise hide them — Sklaverei finds Sclaverei, Konkordienformel finds Concordienformel. What you see listed is always the printed spelling.

Daß unſere Gegner Synergiſten ſind, wird offenbar a. poſitiv: Obwohl ſie von einem Verhalten des Men⸗ ſchen kraft der Gnade reden, erklären ſie doch mit dem Verhalten das Geheimnis § 24 b. — Wenn alles Gnade wäre, warum dann der Zuſatz: „in gewiſſer Hinſicht auch vom Verhalten des Menſchen“? b. negativ. Sie bekämpfen unſere Lehre als heidniſch was unmöglich erſcheint, wenn ſie nicht von Synergismus eingenommen wären. Anm. b. Unſere Gegner bekämpfen das sola gratia ſ. § 18 d. Einwand. Auch Dietrich in ſeinem Katechismus (und mit ihm Miſſouri) lehre drei Urſachen der Wahl. — Dietrich redet aber in jener Frage nicht bloß von Urſo— chen, ſondern auch von Mitteln. Der Glaube iſt bei ihm causa instrumentalis.
