Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917

A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses, and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation below is a link to that page.

The alphabetical run is here in full, Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913 treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here under its own heading.

Headwords are spelled as Eckhardt set them, so the filter folds the differences that would otherwise hide them — Sklaverei finds Sclaverei, Konkordienformel finds Concordienformel. What you see listed is always the printed spelling.

Schule aufhängen: g. müſſen ſtrikt befolgt werden. Auf Beobachtung T Schulgeſetze muß der Lehrer halten und dabei auf kleinſte achten. Iſt eine Regel fehlerhaft oder läßt nich nicht durchführen, ſo wird ſie am beſten aufgehon. 25, 130. — Es iſt gefährlich, ein Gebot unvererkt einſchlafen zu laſſen. 30, 292. Aum. Die Gebote des Lehrers ſind von Gottes Ge— nen verſchieden.

5. Lob und Tadel. Abhandlung: Lob und Tadel bei er Schulerziehung. 43, 65—74. Belohnung und Be⸗ rafung. 27, 129—147. Beides iſt in der Schule nicht ur zuläſſig, ſondern auch gottgefällig. Chriſtus hat ſich ezjelben oft bedient. Anm. a. Zweck. Was ſoll dadurch erreicht werden? des Kind ſoll zunächſt wiſſen, wie es mit ſeinem Leh⸗ er ſteht, ferner ſoll das Pflicht⸗ und Ehrgefühl geför⸗ ert und körperliche Züchtigung vermindert werden. Anm. b. Bedingung für die rechte Wirkung iſt ge⸗ enieitige Liebe und die rechte Perſönlichkeit des Lehrers. zei einem mürriſchen Lehrer verliert beides ſeine Wir⸗ ung. a. Das Lob. Lob iſt eine Außerung der Zufrie⸗ enheit. Wie oft bedient ſich Chriſtus des Lobes, z. B. Selig biſt du, Simon.“ Anm. a. Lob und Anerkennung haben ihre Verech⸗ ung und ſind zuweilen notwendig. Das Kind freut 75 wenn es weiß, daß es den Lehrer befriedigt hat. 27, 32. b. Was iſt bei Austeilung von Lob zu be⸗ Wten 1. Lobe nicht natürliche Begabung, gutes Gedächt ⸗ nis, ſcharfen Verſtand, Geſchicklichkeit, ſondern nur Mühe, Fleiß und Treue. 2 Die Schwachen bedürfen der Ermunterung am meiſten. 3. Sei ſparſam damit. Wer ſeine Aufgabe ge⸗ leiſtet hat, erhält im allgemeinen kein beſonderes Lob. Er hat getan, was er zu tun ſchuͤldig war. 1, 212. Zu häufige Anwendung von Lob vergiftet Herz und Gemüt des Kindes. 43. 68. 4. Hüte dich vor zu großer Redſeligkeit. „Ich bin zufrieden, das haſt du recht gemacht,“ iſt ge⸗ nug. 5. Sei vorſichtig, daß du durch Lob nicht Hoch- mit erzeugſt. Manches Kind beſtrebt ſich, die Auf⸗ gaben pünktlich zu erfüllen, damit es gelobt wird. Es würde durch Lob nur verdorben. Lind. 280.

6. Stelle Kinder nicht der Klaſſe als Muſter hin. Es erweckt Stolz in dem gelobten Kinde und übt nachteiligen Einfluß auf die andern. Und wie bald kann ſich der Muſterſchüler als Taugenichts entpup⸗ pen!
