The Tuutheran Pioneer

“Thanks are herewith tendeted to all who have
in any ‘way contributed and assisted in the dedica-
tion of the altar in order to make it a success.”

Liperat Givers.—'The Lutheran missionary
who is laboring among the Australian negroes on
the Western coast of Australia, reports that a congre-
gation of native Christians, numbering only 21 com-
municant- members, contributed during the past year
for church purposes $590.00. These people must
often work for low wages, and still they give on
the average about $28.00 for every communicant
member. Those black Christians surely set an ex-
ample for others to follow.

Lance Missionary OFrrerinc.— At a recent
Woman’s Missionary Jubilee meeting it was stated
that during the past fifty years American women
raised for foreign missions the sum of forty-one
million dollars. Their aim is to raise this year a
jubilee offering of one million dollars. The larger
part of this sum was already pledged about Easter
time.

An Oxp Pastor’s Apvice. — “I ventured once,”
says a missionary, “to consult an old pastor about
the choice of a place. The word ‘choice’ did not
please him at all. ‘Young men must not pick and
choose. Young men must go where they are sent,’
said the old hero who had grown gray in the Lord’s
service. Then, with a fatherly hand upon my shoul-
der, he said, ‘Go where Christ is not, and take Him
there.’ Five years in the mission field of Africa
was the result of that one sentence.”
