MINUTES OF THE THIRD MEETING OF THE
COMMITTES ON CONSTITUTIONAL MATTERS
HELD AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
May 18, 1952
The meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by the chairman,
6SPETLO
all members being present.
With reference to the mimtes of the second meeting, it was brought out
that as a matter of record it should be stated that the communication mentioned
under "E was referred to our committee by the Fresident of Synod.
A. Handbook Matters: |
1. A change in Section 2.07, "Term of Office", was suggested, but no
action was taken, inasmuch as nothing can be done until the next convention.
2. As to Section 3.61 ff, attention wag called to the fact that it

of Section 3.61 so that it is definitely stated that the visitor is to be a pastor.

all the other steps had been taken that should have been followed. The respective
regulations should be studied and perhaps clarified.

gregation" in Sections 3.43 and 3.65 (Cf. Proceedings 1950, pages 500 and 501) to
make it read as it now does in the new edition.
5, The regulations for the Lutheran Witness, "D", Sections 11.81 to
11.97, and "E" for Der Lutheraner, Sections 11.101 and 11,103 were reviewed and
brought up-to-date, as printed in the new edition.
B. The protest of St.Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church of Morrison, Tilinois,
and Trinity Lutheran Church of Oak Park, Illinois, against the adoption of the
Common Gonfession by Synod in 1950 was given further lengthy consideration. The
opinion of the committee in this matter as agreed upon was to be forwarded to the
