of the Synod.” The LCMS Board of Directors, having recently developed such policy, submitted it and an
additional action item associated with the policy to the commission for review (Bylaws 3.9.2 and
3.9.2.2.3).
Upon review of the policy developed for the Board of Directors and the associated action item, the
commission responded as follows: “It is the responsibility of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran
Church Extension Fund—Missouri Synod to determine whether the ‘ministry and mission of the Synod’
is served by the use of LCEF assets (Bylaw 3.6.4.4.1). Such use of LCEF assets must be done ‘under
policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.’ The commission has reviewed the policy
proposed for the Board of Directors for this purpose and finds that it is in accord with the Constitution
and Bylaws of the LCMS.”
