member from the Synod and thus commenced under Chapter VIII of the Bylaws, the parties involved in a
dispute must meet together, face to face, as set forth in Matthew 18, before a reconciler is appointed to
assist in reconciliation efforts. In either procedure, Matthew 18 is central for it is the methodology our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ mandated for brothers to reconcile their differences.
