Pastor Identical or similar: 2-29B and 2-29C Our Father’s, Milwaukee, Wis. Mount Calvary, New Orleans, La. John Puls M. H. Lehnhardt 2-30A To Overrule CCM Opinion re Campus Ministry PREAMBLE. Since the 1940s the Lutheran bodies in the New England area have cooperated in Lutheran campus ministries. In response to the challenges of campus mission opportunities and limitations of manpower and financial resources, this co- operation has increasingly entailed a joint Lutheran ministry. This direction was undergirded by the action of the synodical convention in Detroit and reaffirmed at later conventions (New York, 1967, 3-20: Denver 1969, 1-20). On May 17, 1974, the Com- mission on Constitutional Matters declared this effort to be “improper” where the administering of Word and sacrament is concerned. Resolved, That The Lutheran Church~ Missouri Synod re- affirm its traditional support of inter-Lutheran campus ministry efforts: and be it further Resolved, That The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, assembled in convention July 1975, overrule the opinion of the Commission on Constitutional Matters re: Campus Ministries, issued May 17, 1974, which declares that “joint campus worship communities and joint campus ministries of Word and sacrament with church groups with which the Synod has not as yet estab- lished fellowship relations are improper’: and be it further Resolved, That The Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod assembled in convention July 1975 be petitioned to give campus ministries the same “extraordinary” fellowship rights now utilized by the military chaplaincy, institutional chaplaincy, and the overseas congregations. President Jan Blanchard, Secretary Martin W. Bangert. Pastor To Deal with Problems Related to Missions WHEREAS. There is abundant evidence that problems re- lated to doctrinal matters exist in our Synod’s mission program. such as: 1) the unofficial meeting of about 25 representatives from seven of our missions and sister churches in south and eastern Asia. the results of which meeting clearly show that American liberal paternalism and exploitation had reared their heads: 2) incontrovertible and undenied evidence that the strongly worded news release from the Hong Kong meeting had been prepared before the meeting itself by certain Stateside members of the Synod who sharply disagree with the Synod's doctrinal position on mission and missiology: 3) evidence that an apparent confusion of names ‘World Mission Institute’ was used by two different organizations} enabled certain funds to be utilized by an unauthorized, “Seminex’’-related organization for its own purposes: 4) the apparent decision of the LCMS-related church in Japan to adopt the unscriptural policy of approving the ordina- tion of women to the pastoral ministry and various other ques- tionable and pluralistic practices: 5) the fact that some within our Synod seem to be satisfied with our mission program when it merely lends a little ‘‘Lu- theran input” to such heathen religions as Islam. Hinduism. Shintoism, Buddhism. etc.: 6) the fact that in certain mission fields the formerly Missouri Synod-related radio ministry has now been so widened as to allow the majority of their policy-making boards to become non-Lutheran in membership. for example. the radio board of the India Evangelical Lutheran Church. in which only three out of nine board members are members of the IELC: and
