There is every reason to believe that, under the blessing of God, this plan carries tremendous potential, because it offers Synod opportunity for the desired development and expansion in a series of annual growth stages which are built upon the best available analysis of objective professional evalu- ators. The evaluation conference offered the unanimous opinion that THIS IS THE LIFE is a high quality, distinctive religious television program and that the Synod would be making a serious mistake if it cut back, weakened, or dropped THIS IS THE LIFE as a weekly program, The evaluators urged the Church to con- tinue the program and to enhance its impact in new ways. There was consensus also that the Synod should give continued high priority to additional prime time specials like CHRISTMAS IS in order to reach the huge "one-time" audiences of evening TV. YEAR ONE - 1974-1975 A. RESTRUCTURE AND RENEW THE EVANGELISM THRUST OF LUTHERAN TELEVISION BY: 1. Preparing a new evangelism packet for the Evangelism Committee of each congregation through which calls can be made within the community using THIS IS THE LIFE and other Lutheran television programming as a found- ation for acquainting people with the Lutheran Church and its work. 2. Revising the mail operation of forwarding evangelism prospects through the utilization of the Synod's com- puter. 3. Refresh the "giveaway'' section of the programs and episodes by offering more meaningful gifts to gain additional response.
