Action of Synod: These resolutions were adopted. Objections to Doctrinal Paper in Proceedings of Iowa West District (Unprinted Memorial 1) Report of Committee 16: Wuereas, This overture asks Synod “not to approve of, and con- sent to, the doctrinal paper” in the Proceedings of the First Con- vention of the Iowa District West, part -of which treats of “The Individual Communion Cup,” and requests Synod to “postpone any official pronouncement on said section of the doctrinal paper men- tioned until the next convention of Synod and in the mean time to induce the conferences of pastors and teachers . . . to study... the questions of the cup in the Lord’s Supper”; and Wuerzas, This overture asserts that the use of the individual cup is anti-Scriptural, sinful, abominable; and Wuereas, Our Synod teaches and practises that, while the custom of the one cup should be retained, the overture presents no valid Scriptural reason against the individual cup; therefore, be it Resolved, That we deny the request of the overture. Action of Synod: This resolution was adopted.
