Appropriate resolutions will be presented to the convention later. According to resolutions of the last convention your President, in conjunction with the Vice-Presidents, appointed Synod’s Lit- erature Board and adopted a set of rules and regulations to guide it in its activity. The Committee on Higher Education, which will render a very comprehensive report to this convention, was ap- pointed in a similar manner. This holds true also of the committee which met with representatives of the U.L.C. and the A.L.C. Their report to the convention is in the hands of our delegates. The convention at Cleveland instructed the President and the Vice-Presidents to appoint a committee which should investigate thoroughly the question of calling men into the service of chaplain- cies in the Army and Navy and, if this could be done without violating our principles, then to appoint also an Army and Navy Commission for Chaplains. This was done, and the first report of this commission is before our convention. According to instructions a special committee was appointed to make a survey of stewardship and missions throughout Synod. The report of this committee is also in the hands of our delegates and will receive due consideration. This committee pursued its task with marked efficiency and devotion to duty. Some of the splendid material is now on the market. One of the express wishes of our last convention for the past triennium was that special emphasis be given the so-called “re-
