During the past three years a beginning has been made in estab- lishing summer-schools for pastors. The enrolments have shown that there is considerable interest in these institutions, and it is to be expected that, since the various demands of the present-day ministry frequently tend to deprive pastors of opportunities for private study, these schools should prove even more popular in the future as a source of stimulus and a means of keeping pastors in touch with theological studies. In view of this we respectfully petition Synod that it take under advisement the arrangement of such courses in our preparatory schools wherever possible, thus putting to use the splendid plants of these institutions at least for part of the time during which they usually lie idle, and that such summer-schools be put under the direction and regulation of the Seminary at St. Louis, possibly as part of the work of the Extension Division. Respectfully submitted by Tue Facutty or St. Jonn’s Couece, WINFIELD, Kans. Action. It was resolved to refer this matter to the Committee on Higher Education.
