Koehler, In- structor in Concordia Teachers’ College, River Forest, Ill. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Brown cloth binding; XII and 260 pages. Price, It would not be unreasonable to expect a 5,000 edition of Professor Koehler’s Christian Pedagogy to be sold within two months aiter its appearance on the book- market. For one thing, there is a crying need for a Chris- tian pedagogy; and, for another thing, Professor Koeh- ler’s book fills the need. While reading in this book during the past few days, as time would permit, we were struck with the thoroughness with which the author has covered the field of Christian pedagogy and the interest- ing manner in which he handles the whole subject. Of course, all our teachers will want this book, and our pastors will not want to be without it. But we were also thinking what a blessing this book could be made to be if all our Lutheran public-school teachers were in possession of this Christian Pedagogy. We should be doing our whole American educational system the greatest service by recommending this book wherever opportunity offers itself. The Pine Ridge Feud. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. blue cloth binding; 142 pages. Price, $1.00. The story of a typical mountain feud, interestingly told from beginning to end. The language is smooth, the descriptions are vivid, the action is dramatic. The long feud, which has cost the life of many a Higgins and of not a few Hamiltons, is finally brought to an end by the powerful Gospel of Christ, which turns hearts of hate into hearts of love. ‘There is also a tender and appealing romance, which binds together in happy marriage a Hig- gins and a Hamilton.
