Official Organ of the Concordia Historical Institute, St. Louis, Mo. Editor-in-Chief: Prof. W. G. Polack. Associate Editors: Prof. Th. Graebner; Prof. R. W. Heintze. Vol.I, No.1, April, 1928. Concordia His- torical Institute, 3558 S. Jefferson Ave., St. Louis, Mo. Price, 25 cts. the copy; $1.00 a year. Payable strictly in advance. This is the first number of the official organ of the Concordia Historical Institute. A desire to gather and preserve the material referring to the history of our Church led to the organization of the Institute. This first number of''the Institute’s organ contains extracts from the diaries of Pastor Paul Henkel, one of the pio- neer home missionaries of our Church, and of Pastor F. W. Husmann, the first secretary of the Missouri Synod. Pastor Carl Kretzmann’s series on “Early Lutherans and Lutheran Churches in America” promises to bring much of interest. The reproduction of an old lithograph show- ing Jefferson Ave. and Miami St., St. Louis, in the seven- ties of the past century and the picture of the “treasure chest” of the Saxon immigrants with accompanying ar- ticle will prove interesting to many a “Missourian.” Die innere und aeussere Stellung einer christlichen Gemeinde gegen das Weltwesen. Von Pastor Albert Huebener. Verlag des Schriftenvereins (E. Klaerner), Zwickau, Sachsen. 48 pages. Price, 80 Pfennig. An earnest appeal addressed to our churches not to allow the wall of separation between the Church and the world to be torn down. The brochure is timely and de- serves a wide reading. : The World Is Our Field. A Missionary Survey. By F. J. Lankenau. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price,, $1.50.
