Statistical Year-Book of the Missouri Synod for 1926. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price, $1.00. A book so brimful of information that if a person were to present all the facts and information on its 200 pages in ordinary “straight matter” form, it would make a book of more than 500 pages, we are sure; yes, if somebody were to tell us that it would make a book of 1,000 pages, we should have no reason to doubt it. It is a pity that not more people in the Church realize the value of such a publication and encourage compiler and publisher by securing its more general circulation. KFUO Tracts. Nos. 5, 6,7, and 8. By Walter A. Maier, Professor of Old Testament Interpretation, Concor- dia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price: 5 ets. per copy; $1.25 per hundred. These gripping tracts bear the titles: Ifodernism avs. the Bible, Modernism Not Modern, The False Prem- ises of Modernism, and The Destructive Tendencies of Modernism. The great timeliness of these tracts, which were originally broadcast as addresses from Station KFUO, is apparent from the titles. Funeral Hymns. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price, 30 cts. per copy. A very fine selection of hymns appropriate for funerals. Every congregation should secure copies to be used by the * pastor in cases of funeral services held in the homes. We believe that undertakers in our circles would do a highly appreciated thing if they were to secure quantities of these Funeral Hymns and furnish them with their imprint to be used at funerals. Shadows. By HW. A. Schroeder. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Cloth binding; 346 pages. Price, $1.50. Here is a most interesting story in which a number of tangled threads are most satisfactorily unraveled. The editor had the privilege of reading this fine story in manuscript and was greatly impressed with its fiction and literary value at the time. It greatly pleases him that Concordia Publishing House is the publisher. May the reception of this most readable story encourage the young author to more such efforts and justify the pub- lishers in putting out many similar publications. One remark as to the remarkably low price of the book: It will be a difficult thing for anybody to find any other similar original edition of a copyrighted story on the market for less than two dollars. Hospice Directory. Lutheran Travelers’ Welfare Work, 1927. Hospice Department, Walther League, 6438 Eggleston Ave., Chicago, Ill. This booklet brings the name and address of every Walther League local society’s hospice secretary in our country. Because of this it serves an important purpose in the inner mission work of the League and of our whole Church. Several copies of this booklet should be in every congregation and should be used by the pastor and others in the case of removals of members to other places. If we all were to take better care of our removing young people and others, one great “leak” would be stopped. The Hos- pice Department also publishes a very serviceable Re- moval Notice Card; cost, 1 cent per card. ~ Single copies of the Directory may be had for the asking; bulk orders are filled at $5.00 per hundred copies. F.J.L. Acknowledgment. The undersigned gratefully acknowledges the receipt of a box of clothes for poor people in our Colored Mis- sions from Mrs. Frank nigga and Mrs. Martha Moensh, Deer Creek, Iowa, forwarded by Mrs. M.
