# Synodical Conference Convention Proceedings_St. Louis Missouri_1958_S77 # Machine transcription, uncorrected — CHI Digital Archive (demonstration) Lutheran Synodical Conference, 1958 T7 These are some of the blessings that have come to us, but not all, as we have been blessed to have a place of worship and also a pastor who is blessed with a livable salary from the Missionary Board. For this we are most grateful. SaMuE. E, Kenrv, Jr. Augustana, Alexandria, La. ; Since we last reported to the Synodical Conference, God has continued His blessings upon our congregation with increased activity. During the past two years, 3 adults and 4 children were con- firmed, and 15 children were baptized, so that we now have 146 baptized souls and 70 communicants. While our gain was not many, we have, by God’s help, continued to add unto His church. Our Sunday school, as well as the day school, has had an increase. The day school teachers are Miss Mabel Grisby of Pensacola, Fla., who taught the upper grades for the past three years, but has decided to retire from the classroom, and Mrs. S. B. Berger, who has charge of the kindergarten and first grade. God has blessed our work in the classroom as some were gained for the church. Augustana Congregation is constantly making repairs on its property. It is true that we had to do repairs caused by the recent storm. Now that we built a hurricane fence around our entire prop- erty, we can keep the children out of the streets and also protect our property from “vandalism.” For over four years we have been privileged to broadcast God’s Word over radio station KDBS at least once a week and in that way the Savior’s Gospel is heard by many people. Only recently we were permitted to dedicate to God and His church four beautiful sets of altar, pulpit, lectern coverings, also brass for the altar and collection plates given by a generous Chris- tian friend of the church. Surely, we feel grateful to the kind donor of these nice and costly vestments to enhance the beauty of our church. At this time we are glad to report that our good members are working harder and more faithfully than in the past, and that is very encouraging. Truly, the harvest is plenteous; we ask that you continue to pray that people and pastor may ever keep in mind the great com- mand of the Master: “Go ye into all the world” and preach the everlasting Gospel to every creature, so that all who are still out- side of the Christian church may be brought to Christ and the salvation of their soul.
