The congregation is giving evidence of greater strength in its partici- pation in the mission expansion program of our field and in Chris- tian stewardship. Yes, there has been both inward and outward growth during the years. The present congregational list does not tell the whole story, According to the record, through the preaching of the Gospel in this community, the total number of 671 souls have been added to the Kingdom of God by Baptism and confirmation. For this we give all glory to God. We herewith thank all those who have sup- ported this mission with their prayers and offerings during the years. P.R. Hunt St. Timothy, East Selma, Ala. With only a few dedi- cated workers and a voluntary pastor, intensive church work is minimized. Future prospects, however, are somewhat brighter since at present a sizeable group of young people is being indoctrinated and becoming active in church work. It is certain that the future prospects for St. Timothy lie in the young people since most adults in East Selma have their roots holding them elsewhere, although a number of adults are now in the confirmation class. Also, at least two of our young people will continue study in our schools; the one looks forward to the ministry, and the other to missionary nursing. With a modern plant and adequate property, St. Timothy has a great potential. Although there are three other churches in the area, the young people are not reached. Under the Lord’s direction we hope to initiate a program whereby our facilities will meet the need and bring true religion to these people who need the stabiliz- ing force of the Gospel in this turbulent time. Our congregation this last year was saddened by the loss of a most dedicated worker. Mrs. Bettie Skinner was called to her heavenly reward after serving her Lord faithfully on the Alabama field for 32 years, 18 of them as teacher in East Selma. It was largely through her zeal and sacrifice that St. Timothy Congrega- tion now carries on its God-given task. We are indeed thankful for the past blessings and hope that in the future, with the help of God, St. Timothy will prove itself and become a stronghold for the Lord with a greater outreach and the ability to support itself.
