That the essay was submitted for review was due to the
inexperience and ignorance of the Secretary of the Synodical Con-
ference, who herewith apologizes to all involved.

Central Illinois District (30th Convention). Two sentences of
essay criticized.

In several cases regret was expressed that convention essays
were not printed in full, in one case with the appended remark:
“By giving only an excerpt of the essay, sentences taken out of their
context may become subject to unwarranted criticism.” (Com-
