(Cf. third paragraph above, 11, 8—11.) These are the resolutions (23) of 1951 and 1953 and President John Brenner’s letter to the Houston Convention (24) —all duly conveyed to The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod. (Proceedings, [25] 1951, pp. 147, 148; Proceedings, 1953, pp. 104, 105 and pp. 96, 97; [26] cf. also Reports and Memorials, 42d Convention, St. Paul, 1952, pp. 78, 79.) (27) Also to be considered is the report of the Synodical Con- ference Committee (28) on Scouting. (Reports and Memorials, St. Paul, 1952, pp. 74—76.) (29) It does not lie, however, within the authority of the Synodical Conference, (30) assembled in public forum or in any of its committees, to commit the constituent (31) synods relative to doctrine and practice. (Cf. Constitution, Article [32] V.) B. Resolution: Be It Resolved: (1) That a complete file of the essays presented in the session of the (2) Synodical Conference, 1954, with supporting pamphlets and booklets (such as [8] the Fraternal Endeavors) with exact and complete documentation of the references (4) made, be placed in the hands of the Presidents of the respective constituent ( 5) synods for study by the synods, by intersynodical committees, and for (6) final settlement at the next regular sessions of the constituent synods. May the Holy Ghost grant us the power and the resolution to preserve the Word and to adhere to its truth. In that alone lies unity and union. (Signed) Watrer A.
