A list of donors during the last two years reveals gifts coming from eight States, and including 16 cities, Nor are the congregations served by the school lacking in interest. The Lutheran Association for Higher Education, made up of Lutherans of the Alabama Field, makes an annual contribu- tion for the benefit of the Academy-College. The annual Christmas offering is usually designated for some Academy purpose. At pres- ent the Field’s 39 congregations are seeking to raise a fund of $20,000 for the erection of a new Boys’ Dormitory. Those acquainted with the Alabama Field will well realize the tremendous nature of this project. It will take years for the congregations to accomplish is aim. We encourage our Lutherans throughout the Synodical Con- ference to remember the Academy in their prayers and with their gifts. $150 will provide a one-year scholarship for some needy and appreciative boy or girl. Gifts, large or small, will help purchase such necessary items as science equipment, maps, globes, and much-needed office equipment. Alabama Lutheran Academy-College is governed by a Board of Control made up of Rev. Wm. G. Kennell (Pensacola), chairman; Rev. A. Dominick (Mobile), secretary; Rev. Wm. H. Jones (Mo- bile); Rev. Chas. Graeber (Holy Ark); Mr. Posey Williams (Selma); and Mr. C. E. Henderson (Jackson, Miss.). The Rev. W. H. Ellwanger, president of the school, is advisory member. The Board meets four times a year and is directly responsible to the Mission- ary Board. There is close contact between the local Board and the Field’s Pastoral Conference. A perusal of the submitted 1954—1955 budget drawn up by the Board of Control, together with the request for subsidy from the Synodical Conference, will reveal the reasonablesness of the recom- mendations. Considering what is being accomplished by this Lu- theran school, it can well be seen that the Synodical Conference is realizing much from the money invested.
