# Synodical Conference Convention Proceedings_St. Louis Missouri_1926_S42 # AI translation — CHI Digital Archive (demonstration) 42 Proceedings of the thirtieth convention appointed, to deliberate on this matter: Dr. L. Fürbringer, chairman, Prof. Joh. Ph. Köhler, Rev. H. C. F. Otte, Rev. Paul Stöppelwerth, Rev. O. Theo- bald, Dr. J. H. Ott, Rev. J. H. Paustian. The following report of this committee was adopted as a resolution: The committee for deliberation of a modus procedendi in inter- synodical disputes takes the liberty of making the following recommendation to a Reverend Synodical Conference (*Synodalkonferenz*). 1. We recommend that the Synodical Conference appoint a committee which shall deliberate a modus procedendi [procedure] and report on it to the next Synodical Conference. 2. We recommend that the Synodical Conference appoint as members of this committee one district president each of the two synods of Missouri and Wisconsin and the two general presidents of these synods. As district presidents we would propose the president of the North Wisconsin District of the Missouri Synod, President H. Daib, and the president of the North Wisconsin District of the Wisconsin Synod, President E. B. Schlüter. L. Fürbringer. O. Theobald, Sec. Concerning Publication of a Treatise on the "Opgjör". Petition. To the convention of the Synodical Conference. The undersigned revisers of the Norwegian synodical reports would like to point to one thing in particular which they found in the report of the year 1924 and which in their opinion should receive further attention and circulation. It is a treatise composed in the English language on the so-called "Opgjör" [settlement, agreement], by which about ten years ago a genuinely unionistic agreement concerning the doctrines of election and conversion came about between the former old Norwegian Synod and the "Forenede Kirke" ("United Church"). We think that many, especially in Norwegian circles, might have their eyes opened about such a deceptive document as the "Opgjör" is, if the treatise mentioned were to appear as a separate reprint in pamphlet form, and if it could then (whether by sale for a few cents or even quite free) be distributed in masses. But because the means for this are lacking to our so brave and faithful Norwegian brethren, who groan under heavy pressure, although they have already made and still make great sacrifices for the support of the truth, we would like to ask the assembled Synodical Conference to consider whether and how the dear brethren might be helped, so that our idea and plan hereby proposed might be carried out. In all respect, heartily greeting, Fr. Sievers. Manistee, Mich., 3 August 1926. H. J. Storm. The committee appointed by the President on this matter reported as follows: [Printed in English.] WHEREAS, The Synodical Conference as such would hardly be in a position to take up the proposed matter; but, WHEREAS, Information on the real, unionistic nature of the Opgjoer is more generally needed in the wider circles of the Synodical Conference; and,
