# Synodical Conference Convention Proceedings_St. Louis Missouri_1924_S65 # AI translation — CHI Digital Archive (demonstration) of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1924. 65 We recommend that we express our joy that the Reverend Negro Mission Commission has published a new catechism that is to be used in the Negro Mission, and that we offer to the editor, Dir. Drewes, our most hearty thanks for his diligent and capable work. — Adopted. In the matter of support for disabled Negro mission workers who hold synodical membership in one of the synods belonging to the Reverend Synodical Conference [Synodalkonferenz], or if need be their widows and orphans, we make the recommendation that the following propositions be raised to resolutions: 1. The Synodical Conference is aware that the provision for all workers unfit for service, and for their dependents, is really its own task, the execution of which it ought itself to take directly into its own hands. 2. But since all sorts of difficulties stand in the way of carrying out this task, it considers it wisest and most practical to refer the provision and support in such cases to the synods concerned, and to ask these synods and the commissions charged by them with this work to take over the support and provision of such mission workers as hold synodical membership with them, and to treat them, like all other cases, according to the usual arrangement. 3. The Synodical Conference resolves to pay through its Commission for the Negro Mission to the pension funds of the synods that come into account the sum of $25 annually for each such active worker. — Resolved. The terms of office of the following members of the Commission for the Negro Mission have expired: Prof. Th. Gräbner, as well as PP. W. Hönecke, R. Jesse and Th. F. Walther. We recommend that all of these be re-elected, and that the Secretary be instructed to cast a collective vote for them in the name of the Synodical Conference. — Adopted. Mr. Ewald Schüttner, hitherto treasurer of the Negro Mission Commission, had to resign his office as treasurer because of increasing other work, especially also in synodical affairs. We recommend that we accept Mr. Ewald Schüttner's resignation and vote to him the most hearty thanks of the Synodical Conference for his faithful and capable services as treasurer of the Negro Mission Commission. Adopted. We recommend further that Mr. Theo. W. Eckhart, the financial secretary of the Missouri Synod, be elected as a member of the Commission for the Negro Mission in place of Mr. Schüttner, in such a way that the Secretary cast a collective vote for him in the name of the Synodical Conference. — Adopted. As representatives of the Commission for the Negro Mission we recommend: For the North Dakota and Montana District of the Missouri Synod: P. J. P. Klausler; for the Southeast Wisconsin District of the Wisconsin Synod: P. Walter Hönecke; for the Northern Illinois District of the Missouri Synod, in place of P. Aug. Burgdorf, whose resignation we recommend be accepted, P. F. C. Streufert. — Adopted. With regard to the Pioneer and the "Missionstaube," we recommend that both periodicals be enlarged to sixteen pages and that we against-
