Synodical Conference of North America. 1922. 49 [Printed in English; continuation of the letter from the Negro missionaries' conference.] We thank the officials of the Synodical Conference, past and present, for the warm, tender feeling they have always entertained for our cause. We thank the members of this great church-body for the large sums of money and other donations they have contributed to carry on this great work. We pray that God's blessings may rest upon every patron and supporter of our great cause. We assure you that the work has not been in vain. We thank you for all the zealous, God-fearing, and sacrificing missionaries and teachers you have sent us, who, in spite of opposi- tion, ostracism, and ingratitude, labored for Christ and the uplift of the colored race. We thank you for the schools, churches, and col- leges you erected for us in order that we and our children might receive a Christian education, enjoy the pure preaching of the Gospel, have the unadulterated Sacraments administered to us, and obtain ministers and teachers of our own race. We also thank you for the wise, able, and conscientious men you appointed on the Board of Colored Missions, both past and present, who, although they were busy men, gave their time and used their best endeavors to conduct this work successfully and economically. We finally thank you for the periodicals you have published in behalf of our cause. Not only has this helped us immeasurably in a spiritual manner, but it has also promoted our temporal welfare. We thank you for the splendid editors of these papers. Realizing how God has blessed us, we implore you to continue this great work with unabated zeal. We promise that with God's aid and assistance we will do all we can to further, extend, and pro- mote the cause of Christ and our dear Lutheran Church among the colored people. G. A. Schmidt. H. Nau. } Committee. New Orleans, La., June 17, 1922. John McDavid. Miscellaneous. 1. Since Rev. Dysterheft reported that in the Wisconsin Synod there is a desire to take part in the China mission of the Missouri Synod, the President and the Vice-President of the Synodical Conference were appointed as a committee to report in two years, after thorough deliberation, whether the Synodical Conference should take part in this mission. 2. Resolved to ask President Gausewitz to publish his opening sermon in the proceedings. 3. A protest had been filed against the election of a delegate. Since, however, this delegate had not appeared, the protest was not taken into account, and the convention gave no judgment whatever on whether the protest belonged before the convention or not.
