Rev. Dr. H. G. Stub, Prof. Dr. J. Ylvisaker, and the Rt. Rev. O. P. Vangsnes, which committee will meet and confer with the delegation chosen by the Synodical Conference, if said delegation finds it con- venient and proper to meet with our men. “ ‘With fraternal greetings: “ ‘The Church Council of the Norwegian Synod. “ ‘By J. Nordby.) “ ‘St. Louis, Mo., May 3, 1913. “ ‘The Reverend J. Nordby, “ ‘Lee, Ill. “ ‘Reverend and dear Brother, — “ ‘Under date of May 1, the President of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference, Rev. C. Gausewitz, forwards to me a letter containing a “Resolution adopted at the regular meeting of Church Council in Minneapolis, in January, 1913,” and signed by you as secretary. In this letter you say, with reference to an action taken at the late con- vention of the Synodical Conference at Saginaw, as follows: “The proposed method of procedure, namely, to send a delegation to our synodical meetings to take up the matter for discussion at the same, would prove very unfortunate and result in new complications, and, instead of benefiting, would do harm to the fraternal relation which it is your desire, as well as ours, to maintain.” You also say in this letter to the Rev. Gausewitz: “We therefore kindly request you, as Praeses of the Synodical Conference, to convey this our opinion to the delegation of the Synodical Conference, and in order that the venerable fathers and brothers may not be led to believe that we are unwilling to listen to their grievances, we have elected a committee, consisting of the Rt. Rev. Dr. H. G. Stub, Prof. Dr. J. Ylvisaker, and the Rt. Rev. O. P. Vangsnes, which committee will meet and confer with the delegation chosen by the Synodical Conference, if said delegation finds it convenient and proper to meet with our men.”’
