Liefeld, F. A. Kleinert, C. F. Gensike, B. Un- grodt, J. P. Sprengling, C. Gausewitz, T. H. Wald, Th. Jäkel, P. Brenner, J. Conrad, J. H. Brockmann, Mayerhoff, A. Opitz, R. Adelberg, H. Hoff- mann, K. Oppen, H. Quehl, J. Köhler, P. Lucas, O. Spehr, C. Jäger and Mr. Kickäfer. 4. From the Norwegian Lutheran Synod: The Pastors A. Jakobson, N. B. Bergen, J. J. Tackle. Since the question whether teachers who were standing members of one of the synods represented in the Synodical Conference [*Synodal-Conferenz*] might also be admitted as advisory members was answered in the affirmative, the following teachers further registered: Teachers: Ch. Pritzlaff, A. Dammköhler, F. Rix, P. Ruge, W. Beck; and further the Candidates for the holy ministry: Schaf, Heyer and Bergholz. Present as a guest was Professor W. Notz of Allentown, Pa. After the Conference had constituted itself, it proceeded to the election of officers. It had the following result: President: Prof. C. F. W. Walther; Vice-President: Prof. W. F. Lehmann; Secretary: Pastor P. Beyer; Treasurer: Mr. J. Schmidt of Youngstown, O. Thereupon a roll call was taken to ask whether the individual synods had adopted the constitution of this Conference, whereupon all the synods represented testified that the adoption had been unanimous. Since, however, the Rev. Norwegian Lutheran Synod had attached to the attestation of its full assent to the constitution the question whether it could also enter the Synodical Conference as a member, although, as is well known, as an individual synod it professes only the Unaltered Augsburg Confession and Luther's Small Catechism, the Synodical Conference gave the declaration that the Scandinavian Lutherans had always been recognized as an orthodox church, although not all the symbolical books have attained legal force in the church among them; it is understood, however, that the Synodical Conference requires that the Rev. Norwegian Lutheran Synod, insofar as it is a part of the Synodical Conference, confess with it all the Confessional writings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and, in the event of any doctrinal disputes arising, be guided and judged accordingly. Since this was promised by the representatives of the Rev. Norwegian Synod, the Conference saw no obstacle to its admission.
