and with the approval of the synodical Board of Directors and the Council of Presidents, to
consolidate colleges to the extent required by the church's professional needs and by its financial

schools in such a way that unnecessary duplication is avoided and that any existing unnecessary
duplication is ended; without, however, altering or extending the synodically assigned purpose of

10.44 Concordia Survivor Plan
The "Concordia Survivor Plan" is the plan adopted by the Board of Directors in accord with
directives adopted at a prior convention of the Synod (Res. 10-02 of the 45th convention) to
provide for surviving widows and children those benefits previously provided under the Concordia
Retirement Plan. The text of the plan, as amended from time to time, shall be published in booklet
form under the supervision of the Board of Managers of the Concordia Retirement Plan.
