35. 2010 Res. 8-05B “To Elect Delegates to the Synod Convention” (11-005)
Wilbert Sohns reviewed the issues associated with 2010 Res. 8-05B and noted other issues that will need
to be included in the consideration of the matter as referred to the commission by the convention. He
suggested the need to divide the subject into three issues, possibly to be addressed by three separate
overtures: (1) number of delegates; (2) when delegates will be elected; and (3) how delegates will be
elected. After lengthy discussion, it was agreed that a committee of three, chaired by Ron Schultz, will be
asked to put together a proposal. The other two members of the committee will be Wilbert Sohns and
Secretary Hartwig.
36. Adjournment
The commission discussed its remaining meetings of the triennium prior to the 2013 convention. It will
next meet August 25–26 and November 1–2.
Noting time constraints, the commission used its remaining time to discuss a number of specific structural
issues and terminology concerns in the current Handbook. The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
