Resolved, that the Synod acknowledge the duty, as set forth in the petition, of providing for servants of the church who have become unable to serve, and their dependents or survivors respectively. Resolved, that the petition, together with the committee's report on it, and indeed the whole matter, be handed over to the individual districts for deliberation, and that these report back to the next Delegate Synod. Support of Disabled Professors and Their Needy Widows and Orphans. The following report of the commission was read and adopted by the Synod: To the General Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, assembled as the Fourteenth Delegate Synod at Chicago, Ill. Beloved brothers in the Lord! The General Support Commission, which is charged with regulating the support of emeritus professors and professors' widows, hereby submits to the Reverend Synod a brief report. We have conscientiously examined all requests for support that reached us during the past triennium and set the amount of support according to need in each case. In some instances we would gladly have granted somewhat more support, but this was not possible because of the great want in the synodical treasury. In 1911, $4,608.10 was spent for the maintenance of 5 emeritus professors and 7 professors' widows; in 1912, $5,396.42 for the maintenance of 4 professors and 8 professors' widows; and in 1913, $3,629.91 for the maintenance of 3 professors and 8 professors' widows. In the past triennium, then, the sum of $13,634.43 has been given to our wards from the synodical treasury. In the current year we have 1 professor and 8 professors' widows on our list. The support granted amounts to $3,380. In the name and on behalf of the General Support Commission, signed with brotherly greeting, Friedr. J. Keller, Chairman. Cleveland, O., May 3, 1914.
