Consultation and Direction: A member who is aware of in- formation which could lead to the expulsion of a member from the Synod must consult with his or her ecclesiastical supervisor (the accuser’s supervisor) to seek advice and also so that the supervi- sor can determine which Bylaw procedure is appropriate to use in the matter (Bylaw 2.26, 2.27, 2.28, 2.29, 2.39, 6.47 or Chapter VII). Only after this step is complete may the accuser’s supervisor bring the matter to the accused’s supervisor for action. b. Procedures before Commencing an Action: Before the ac- cused’s supervisor makes a determination to proceed, he must de- termine if the Consultation and Direction procedures (a. above) have been carried out. c.
