Service on the Board of Directors offers the privilege of administering the financial and business concerns of the LCMS corporately for the purpose of growth realized through nurturing the lives of members and offering Christ to the world. My vision is “abide in me.” Abiding in Christ the vine, the LCMS as the branches will grow and bear fruit. BOARD FOR DISTRICT AND CONGREGATIONAL SERVICES [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ 1 ordained minister, 1 commissioned minister serving a congregation or Lutheran school, 2 laypersons to be elected It is a privilege to have been chosen as a candidate to serve on a board which is able to reach out with the Gospel of Christ on so many levels! As someone who was blessed to have been raised in a Christian home and was afforded the opportunity of receiving a parochial education, I am well acquainted with the positive impact which families, pastors, and teachers have upon young and old alike. I believe that my years of experience in serving on both a congregational and district level have equipped me with insights which, if elected, I hope to bring to this position. Qualifications: The Board for District and Congregational Services serves with districts in assisting congregations to develop and foster vibrant ministries to bring the saving, life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ to the sinful, dying world. Statements of Direction are: Proclaiming the Saving Gospel of Jesus Christ; Nurturing Children, Youth, and Adults; Developing Leaders; and Cultivating Stewards. These Statements of Direction are addressed through five ministry areas: Children’s Ministry, Family Ministry, School Ministry, Stewardship Ministry, and Youth Ministry. It is desirable that the members of the Board for District and Congregational Services are actively involved in one or more of these ministry areas in their own congregation, understand the issues congregations face, have worked within their district to address these issues, and appreciate the partnership between national and district staffs and boards in addressing these issues. As evangelical and confessional Lutheran Christians, our Synod needs to be continually focused (with unity and faith) on the Great Commission based on Matt. 28:16–20. In obedience and glory to God, we need to respond together to God’s love/grace by serving one another, loving our neighbor based on the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:36–40; Mark 12:28– 31) and reaching the lost. As a Synod, we need to intentionally raise up a new and ethnically diverse generation of worshipers based on John 4:23–24, and equip the Body of Christ for works of service that expand the kingdom of God based on Eph. 4:11–16. God has blessed our Synod with a variety of ways to reach people. As a person with experience in Lutheran elementary and secondary schools as well as a youth group leader and worship leader, I have seen many of these opportunities in action. It is my prayer that God continues to grant our church the courage, strength, and wisdom necessary to make our schools and congregations the best they can be in order to share the Good News of the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ. 33
