Edwin T. Brown, Pearsall, Tex. (12-32) To Allow All Denominations and Their Workers to Join Concordia Retirement Plan Wuereas, The Concordia Retirement Plan is designed for workers of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod; and Wuereas, This excellent retirement plan is therefore self-limiting; therefore be it Resolved, That the Board of Managers initiate plans to permit any congregation and its workers to join the Concordia Retirement Plan upon meeting the financial requirements of the plan. Rev. Joun Ka.zio Rev. Paut BITTNER Virginia, Minn. (12-33) To Allow for Complete Portability Under Concordia Retirement Plan Wuereas, The congregation that remits to the Con- cordia Retirement Plan does so for the workers in their service and not the workers of the Synod in general; therefore be it Resolved, That we instruct the Board of Managers to initiate plans for complete portability to insure the individual workers the protection intended by their congregations. Rev. W. FRANZMEIER Hibbing, Minn. Rev. THEODORE SCHROEDER Marble, Minn. (12-34) To Develop Materials on Stewardship of Natural and Human Resources Wuereas, The stewardship of the whole world has been given into human hands by our heavenly Father (Gen. 1: 28-31) ; and Wuereas, By this commission we are to understand not only the natural resources of the world but also the products of human industry to be in our care, and Wuereas, The air, water, minerals, plant and animal life of this planet are being polluted daily, poisoned, exploited selfishly, and laid waste: and Wuereas, The produce and wealth of our United States are being grievously misappropriated so that the selfish needs of the already well-to-do rather than the necessary needs of the poor and the oppressed here and abroad are being met; and Wuereas, The wrath of God in the form of mass starvation, rebellion, war, and pestilence will surely come upon us in the near future unless we repent now of these sinful injustices and abuses; therefore be it Resolved, That the Stewardship Department of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod be empowered and instructed by this convention to prepare educational materials for use at the congregational level to equip Christians for responsible stewardship in these areas of human responsibility; and be it further Resolved, That these materials provide not only a proper theological perspective about and a general knowledge of the facts involved in these matters but that they deal concretely also with particular examples of the problems which confront us, viz.: What is hap- pening and why to the air and water supplies of our major urban areas; why and how the mineral resources, such as oil. are being depleted and for whose benefit: by whose decisions and to what ends so much of our national public budget (what percentage) is being spent in the production and maintenance of military hardware, such as the proposed antiballistic missile system; and be it finally Resolved, That the Stewardship Department acquaint our congregations with those organizations and agen- cies, public and private, that are struggling effectively with these problems, to the end that we as men and women responsible to the Creator for the care of His creation may join and assist responsible conservation forces in their endeavors of good stewardship of the earth as true “conservatives.” St. Grecory oF Nyssa LUTHERAN CHURCH Chicago, IIl.
