REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH Warsaw, Ind. Joun Mowrey, Secretary (12-17) To Refund 90% of Accumulation on Request Wuereas, There are those among us (pastors, teach- ers, lay workers, etc.) professional workers of our Synod who have left the Synod; and Wuereas, There seemingly is an indication of even others leaving our Synod due to the controversial fel- lowship proposal, for doctrinal and other reasons; and Wuereas, The Synod’s Pension Plan, according to the Handbook, states the only way that the worker may get the amount invested by him or his congregation re- funded is that both he and his employer simultaneously resign (Handbook 10.49 c); and Wuereas, In some instances one of the chief reasons that workers are staying with the Synod is because they feel the financial security built up by the Concordia Pension Plan is something they and their families re- main in desperate need of; therefore be it Resolved, That all workers leaving the Synod or po- sitions in the Synod because of doctrinal or practical reasons be given a 90% refund of the total amount paid into Concordia Plans for them (whether it was paid directly by them or by their employer); and be it further Resolved, That such action, when taken by the worker, be submitted in writing to Concordia Plans, as well as the respective District President; and be it finally Resolved, That the Synod accept such writing as ter- mination and that the refund be paid such workers within 120 days following the filing of termination with the District President. TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH Blunt, S. Dak. Wa ter E. HEIEN, President ALVIN KIRSCHENMANN, Secretary (12-18) To Permit Participation Even After Resignation Wuereas, The Missouri Synod has through the years established a Pension Plan; and Wuereas, Many workers and congregations of the Lord in the Missouri Synod have paid into this plan for years; and Wuereas, Many workers are depending on this plan in their present or future retirement; and Wuereas, The matter of altar and pulpit fellowship with The ALC is a matter of confession and conscience for some workers and congregations; and Wuereas, A joining of the Missouri Synod and The ALC in altar and pulpit fellowship will force some workers because of confession and conscience to leave the Missouri Synod; and Wuereas, This would at present terminate the Pen- sion Plan and its benefits for these workers; therefore be it Resolved, That no worker shall be denied his or her membership in the Pension Plan so long as the required payments are continued, even if he or she should choose to leave the Missouri Synod; and be it further Resolved, That all rights and privileges granted by the Pension Plan be continued to them. Rev. EvGENE KAvurFFELD Watertown, Wis. (12-19) To Reconsider Pension Resolution Resolved, That the pastors of the Yellowstone Cir- cuit of the Northern Nebraska District, The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod, memorialize the 48th syn- odical delegate convention to reconsider the 1967 over- ture (10-06) submitted by the Central Illinois District, namely, “to remit to the workers with interest those funds, both personal and congregational, attributed to the worker’s account, upon the worker’s request in ves writing.” YELLOWSTONE CIRCUIT NorTHERN NEBRASKA DISTRICT Srmon Maler, Secretary (12-20) To Raise Minimum Pension to at Least $250 per Month Wuereas, The cost of living is constantly on the rise; and Wuereas, The maximum allowance now provided for the retired workers of the Cross, under the old Pension Plan, is but $150 per month; and Wuereas, The rising trend of our economy has de- valued this sum far below the intention of the original plan; and Wuereas, Christians ought always to be concerned about the well-being of their fellowman; and Wuereas, God in both the Old and New Testaments points to the workers of the church as special objects of such loving concern; and Wuereas, The Pension Plan, in a special way, was designed to convey a full measure of such concern and love to those who serve the church; and Wuereas, The existing inconsistencies with this God- given principle cause the present practice to fall far
