We heed no other Word and seek no other way. We shall move into the future with boldness, for God has redeemed our time. With such a blessing, are we not always young in the Lord? And is there any better reason for us as adults to min- ister to youth and to celebrate our own youthfulness with them? Such a question could lead to the answer. And such an answer just may be youth ministry as outlined in this report. Leonarp C. RamMMING, Chairman GILBERT OLDSEN, Secretary Ben Eccers, Executive Secretary (8-02) To Repudiate Present Walther League Wuereas, The present leadership of the Walther League without adequate representation and _ specific request on the part of parish societies at the Purdue Gathering appropriated the name “Walther League” and canceled the charters of all Walther League so- cieties: and Wuereas, The present Walther League is promoting through the Worker’s Quarterly and other publications social, political, and economic policies inimical to the truth and the well-being of the church, such as empha- sis on world hunger to the exclusion of emphasis on evangelism, the boycott of California grapes, share the wealth, and guaranteed annual wage: therefore be it Resolved, That The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod repudiate the present Walther League as an ac- knowledged organization of the Synod. Our Savior LUTHERAN CHURCH Pinole, Calif. Haroip Davipson, Secretary (8-03) To Continue Support of POPV Program Whereas, The Prince of Peace Volunteers program of the Synod has attempted to carry on a very significant form of ministry in accordance with a sound theological understanding of being Christ’s mission to the world as outlined in the Mission Affirmations of the Detroit con- vention; and WuereAs, Youth not only have been trained to know what it means to be a Christian in contemporary society carrying on the mission of Jesus Christ through Word and work but also have been able to serve at critical points in the church's mission throughout the world at comparatively little cost to the church: and Wuereas, The California and Nevada District is be- ginning to experience benefits through the program of West Coast Prince of Peace Volunteers; and WuereAs, There is a great need that such a ministry must be increased in the future if the church is to train young people and give them an opportunity to serve God’s world at points of real tension; therefore be it Resolved, That the California and Nevada District memorialize The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod in convention in Denver in 1969 to continue its whole- hearted support of the Prince of Peace Volunteers pro- gram and similar forms of youth ministry; and be it finally Resolved, That the Synod offer special commendation to the leaders of this program and pledge their con- tinual support in every way to these efforts. CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA DISTRICT Cari A. WALLIs, Secretary (8-04) To Encourage All-Lutheran Youth Programing WHEREAS, Many parishes on the local level are be- ginning to experiment with all-Lutheran youth pro- graming; and WHEREAS, Such experimentation seems to offer many new and fresh possibilities for our mission to and with young people; and Wuereas, On a District level some of this same type of experimentation is taking place without jeopardizing in any way our traditional stand on pulpit and altar fellowship; and WHEREAS, These same possibilities are present on a national level: therefore be it Resolved, That the California and Nevada District memorialize the convention of the Synod in Denver to direct the national youth office to take positive steps toward all-Lutheran youth programing on a national level, so long as it does not violate our stand on altar and pulpit fellowship. CALIFORNIA AND NeEvADA DistTRIcT Cari A. WALtIs, Secretary (8-05) To Diversify Youth Ministry Wuereas, The new direction in youth ministry en- courages and supports a variety of approaches and groupings on the congregational level; and Wuereas, The planning of the staff of the office of youth ministries presently gives priority to parish services; and Wuereas, Almost all parishes are in great need of as- sistance in developing new forms of youth ministry; therefore be it Resolved, That the California and Nevada District memorialize The Lutheran Chuch— Missouri Synod, in its convention in Denver in 1969, to direct its atten- tion to efforts for helping the parish and to encourage its staff also to give priority to parish youth; and be it further Resolved, That the Synod direct the Board for Young People’s Work and its staff to carry on a program of experimentation with a variety of models for youth ministry on the parish level; and be it finally
