The Academic Program Accreditation St. John’s College has at all times been vitally con- cerned about its academic standing as an educational institution. Throughout the years it has worked closely with the Kansas State Department of Public Instruction and with the University of Kansas in maintaining high standards of education. The junior college is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Sec- ondary Schools and is authorized to award the associate in arts degree (A.A.). The college is anticipating the periodic membership review by the North Central As- sociation and has appointed a committee to plan for this institutional reevaluation, The college is also fully accredited by the Kansas State Department of Public Instruction. In addition, St. John’s College is a member of the American Associa- tion of Junior Colleges and of the Council of North Central Junior Colleges, The academy continues to enjoy membership in the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and is also fully accredited by the State of Kansas, Curriculum St. John’s College serves the church by offering preparation for young men and young women who wish to dedicate themselves and their talents to their Savior. Primary emphasis is placed on those courses which offer the preparatory work for pastors, teachers, dea- conesses, social workers, and which form the terminal program for parish workers. There have been few changes in course offerings because the faculty has been en- gaged in a major curriculum study. This began with the study of the objectives of the college and of the total program. During the 75th anniversary year the study centered on evaluation of innovations and new ap- proaches which have been tried and adopted by other colleges. Following this a special study committee has been examining the possibilities of doing more effective work within a new academic calendar arrangement. This study will be completed this year, and the faculty will then decide whether there must be a major restructur- ing of courses.
