SCHULZ (6-03) Report of Committee on Colloquies For the Pastoral Ministry During the past biennium the following men were colloquized and certified for the pastoral ministry of our church: Ronald Williams Erwin M. Smuda Alfred J. Freitag Raymond Huddle Donald Wuertz Fred Krause Howard Mathisen Lawrence Meintzen Herbert Sims K. M. Tai H. Thielmann The Colloquy Committee calls the Synod’s attention to the fact that an increasing number of excellent ap- plicants from among Lutheran teachers are being en- rolled in the colloquy program. As often as possible ap- plicants from among Lutheran teachers are persuaded to take full theological training at our seminaries. The Colloquy Committee is also receiving an in- creasing number of applications from Missouri Synod students who are attending non-Missouri seminaries. Such students are being referred directly to one of our seminaries. During the past biennium the committee was asked to develop a procedure whereby black young men of our Synod with a college background may receive theo- logical training towards eventual certification for the pastoral ministry while being involved in parish work under the supervision of a pastor. The above-mentioned developments emphasize the importance of the colloquy program and indicate that the committee must remain flexible in its procedure but never at the expense of meeting the standards of theo- logical training set by the Synod. For the Teaching Ministry The following persons have completed the colloquy requirements for the teaching ministry from May 5, 1967, to May 5, 1969:
