That The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod, in convention assembled, express thanks to God for bless- ings bestowed through the leadership of the English District; 2. That the Synod direct (since the Synod is in an advisory capacity to congregations but not to Districts) the English District to place the matter of the incorpora- tion of English District congregations into the regularly constituted geographical Districts on the agenda of its next District convention; 3. That the English District, under God, be urged to take this step commensurate with the maturity of her judgment and love for the Lord: 4. That the English District request the Synod to authorize the discontinuation of the English District; 5. That such action, reflecting the mature judgment of the leaders of the English District, be begun now, and that the actions following such mature judgment be effected as soon as possible; 6. That the President of the Synod be directed to appoint a committee of five (5), composed of 2 pastors, 2 laymen, and 1 teacher, who are to study and to be ready to consult in this matter; 7. That the President of the English District appoint a committee of five (5), composed of 2 pastors, 2 lay- men, and 1 teacher, to study the whole subject and offer advice and counsel; 8. That the two committees carry on several joint meetings and discussions and bring a report to the synodical convention 4 years hence. Rev. GERHARDT J. C. GERIKE Des Moines, Iowa (5-36) To Divide Present Atlantic District into Atlantic District, New England District and New Jersey District Resolved, That the Atlantic District, in convention assembled at Bronxville, N. Y., June 23—26, 1968, peti- tion The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod, in con- vention assembled in Denver, Colo., July 11—18, 1969, to divide the present Atlantic District into the following three Districts: 1. The Atlantic District, with its boundaries being those presently existing in the State of New York; 2. The New England District; 3. The New Jersey District; and that the Synod, if it deem it advisable, give con- sideration to the addition of the congregations of other involved Districts. Atiantic DISTRICT Ricuarp C. Hintz, Secretary (5-37) To Form a New Jersey District Resolved, That Calvary Lutheran Church of Verona, N. J., after thorough consideration and discussion of the subject of the realignment of the Atlantic District, pro- poses that there be a realignment of the present Atlantic District and that in such a realignment a New Jersey District be formed. Catvary LUTHERAN CHURCH Verona, N.J. Harry C. Epcren, Secretary (5-38) To Consider Division of Atlantic District with Utmost Caution Wuereas, The resolution requesting the Synod to divide the Atlantic District into three individual Dis- tricts was passed by only seven votes, thus indicating less than wholehearted general consensus; and Wuereas, The division of the District would weaken the service programs of the District; and WuerEAas, It is felt by Redeemer Lutheran Congrega- tion, Bayside, N. Y., that the cause of the Lord’s work would be better served by the District as presently con- stituted; therefore be it Resolved, That Redeemer Congregation petition the Synod to consider division of the Atlantic District with utmost caution.
