IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH Oceanside, Calif. WiLuiAM E. Guipotti1, Chairman Dona_p FLoyp, Secretary MITcHELL J. PRiFoGLe, Pastor (3-227) To Require Subscription to Ten-Point Formula for Fellowship with ALC Wuereas, The question of altar and pulpit fellowship between The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod and The American Lutheran Church is one of the most momentous issues ever to come before the LCMS: and Whereas, There are those in our midst who errone- ously claim that there now is doctrinal unity between The ALC and the LCMS: and Wuereas, It is clear from current public teachings of The ALC that doctrines contrary to Holy Scriptures are being taught: and Wuereas, The ALC practices fellowship with the Lutheran Church in America and is also affiliated with the World Council of Churches and the Lutheran World Federation, which organizations are liberal and union- istic: therefore be it Resolved, That Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. R. 1. Fairmont, Minn., refuses to have altar and pulpit fellowship with The American Lutheran Church unless said body subscribes without reservation to the follow- ing “Ten-Point Formula for Fellowship with The ALC”: It is our conviction that no God-pleasing fellowship between The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod and The American Lutheran Church can be established un- less The ALC agrees without reservation to meet the following minimum standards: 1. That The ALC accepts all the Canonical books of the Old and New Testaments as the revealed, inerrant Word of God. verbally inspired, and acknowledges and accepts all the confessional books of the Lutheran Church as they were originally published in the Book of Concord of 1580 to be a true and genuine exposition of the doctrines of the Bible. which confessional writings are: (1) the three Ecumenical Creeds. i. e., the Apostles’, the Nicene. and the Athanasian: (2) the Unaltered Augsburg Confession: (3) the Apology of the same; (4) the Smalcald Articles: (5) Luther’s Small Cate- chism; (6) Luther's Large Catechism; (7) the Formula of Concord. 2. That The ALC acknowledges as doctrinally cor- rect the Brief Statement adopted by the Missouri Synod in 1932 and reafirmed by Missouri in 1947. 3. That The ALC rejects the higher critical pre- suppositions and approach to the Scriptures as being destructive of true Biblical scholarship and a danger to a childlike faith in God's Word. (2 Tim. 3:15) 4. That The ALC actually teaches the Word of God by the spoken and written word in conformity with pro- visions 1, 2, and 3. 5. That The ALC disciplines and if necessary re- moves pastors and professors who are teaching contrary to provisions 1, 2, and 3. 6. That The ALC officially repudiates the false doc- trine contained in its instruction manual The Bible: Book of Faith. 7. That The ALC severs all connection with the liberal and unionistic Lutheran World Federation. 8. That The ALC severs all connections with the liberal and unionistic World Council of Churches, 9. That The ALC discontinues its de facto fellowship with the liberal and unionistic Lutheran Church in America. 10. That The ALC discontinues the practice of re- ceiving into communicant membership those who are members of any Christ-denying organization such as secret, oath-bound societies that confess and foster a religion the principles and practices of which conflict with the Word of God (2 Cor. 6:14-18; 2 John 9); that it recognizes its obligation to deal in a Scriptural man- ner, in Christian love, patience. and forbearance, with those in its midst who are now members of such or- ganizations and to show them that membership in such organizations is incompatible with their Christian faith. Martu, Vacancy Pastor (3-228) To Acknowledge that Proposed Fellowship Is Forbidden Wuereas, Jesus Christ is confessed by us as the Lord and Head of His church on earth: and Wuereas, We have in Baptism all vowed Jesus Christ implicit. unquestioned obedience in all things He has commanded or forbidden in His Holy Scriptures; and Wuereas, Jesus Christ being our Lord and we His servants, we have nothing to say in any matter but only to obey Him in all matters; and Wuereas, Jesus has given His church on earth as His body, that is. all its members, specific commands with whom He wants us to fellowship in Eph.5:11: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness”; and WHEREAS, It is obvious to the Lord Jesus and all of us that The American Lutheran Church is full of such unfruitful works of darkness with its false doctrines and practices, as: 1. They openly confess that the Bible is not only authored by the Holy Spirit but also by sinful, fallible men. so it has human errors and therefore is not the
