Adequate Support for District and Synod RESOLUTION 8, COMMITTEE 11 Memorial 804, page 627, Reports and Memorials Wuereas, The lack of adequate support for synodical work is evident in the fact that in 1959 more than 500 congregations made no definite commitment to that work and that in the past few years 60 per cent of the congregations have not assumed their rightful responsibility before the Lord and the church; and Wuereas, The failure to remit regularly and adequately in. the first eight months has forced extensive borrowing by the Synod’s Treasurer and frequently has resulted in failure of those congre- gations who remitted irregularly during the first part of the year to meet their rightful responsibility by the end of the year; and Wuereas, All congregations of the Synod are responsible for adequate support of District and Synod; and Wuereas, This support is always possible under the blessing of God; therefore be it Resolved: 1. That all congregations make a definite commitment or set a definite goal for District and the Synod each year; 2. That all congregations which in 1959 did not assume their rightful responsibility for District and the Synod reconsider their commitment or goal for this year and endeavor to assume at least their rightful responsibility for 1960 and the years following; 3. That congregations be urged to send in one twelfth of their commitment or goal each calendar month; 4. That congregations avail themselves of the counsel of their Circuit Counselor, circuit stewardship cochairman, or stewardship
