COMMITTEE 7—Lodges and Bay Scouts Report of Commission on Fraternal Organizations RESOLUTION 1, COMMITTEE 7 Memorial 602, pages 491—493, Reports and Memorials Wuereas, The Commission on Fraternal Organizations has worked diligently and faithfully for the past triennium in contact- ing and negotiating with various lodges and in providing helpful information and counsel to synodical Districts and congrega- tions; and Wuereas, The commission has made available significant tracts and other literature which have proved most helpful to our pastors and laymen; therefore be it Resolved, That we receive the report of the members of the commission with gratitude and encourage them to continue in their arduous tasks in the interest of the Kingdom. Action: This resolution was adopted. To Accept Lodge Members RESOLUTION 2, COMMITTEE 7 Memorial 603, pages 493—494, Reports and Memorials . Wuereas, The Synod’s position concerning lodges or societies of an unchristian or anti-Christian character (cf. Synodical Hand- book 14.03) is firmly established by Scripture; and Wuereas, Memorial 603 contains false premises and inconsistent assumptions, misapplies God’s Word, and therefore results in false conclusions; therefore be it Resolved, That we reject this memorial and that we reaffirm the Synod’s stand on the lodge question as defined in the Hand- book; and be it further Resolved, That we urgently request the President of the Synod to instruct the District Presidents to make the lodge practice of congregations in their Districts a matter of special concern and, by way of evangelical admonition and discipline, to deal with all pastors and congregations not conforming to the synodical policy as stated in paragraph 14.03 of the synodical Handbook. Action: This resolution was adopted. COMPLIES MIE HS ENA LORE ARLE ROT SSE ANEMIC ONES OI LEN s
